Abstract

Hypertriglyceridemic waist is considered a specific predictor of T2D because it combines the predictive value of waist circumference (WC) and serum triglycerides (TG). Our objective was to investigate if the addition of specific triacylglycerol (TAG) lipid species to WC performs better than the combination of WC and TG to predict future T2D in initially diabetes‐free individuals (n=771, 9197 person‐years follow‐up).
