Abstract
Clinical observation and serial thyroid function tests show that this woman was euthyroid before 131I therapy. The development of thyrotoxicosis after 131I can be attributed to Graves disease and not radiation thyroiditis, because its appearance was not immediate and was associated with increased 99mTc uptake and a significant rise in thyrotropin receptor antibodies.
