The 'Music Therapy with Families Network': Creating a community of practice via social media

Abstract
The seed for creating a network of music therapists working with families was planted at the 2012 Nordic Congress of Music Therapy in Jyväskylä. As part of the Congress programme, there was a symposium titled ‘Music Therapy with Families’ chaired by Amelia Oldfield (UK) and Kirsi Tuomi (Finland). The symposium atmosphere was warm and collegial, with approximately 40 music therapists from around the world in attendance. During the presentations and the social gatherings that followed, there was a sense of excitement, with many feeling as though they had found their ‘tribe’.
