Abstract
The creative industries have gone global, but academic inquiry in this topic is still limited. Terry Flew’s book is part of the ongoing struggle of academics to catch up with global interest in the creative economy. In doing so, he locates Adorno’s conceptual offspring in a far more optimistic set of ideas. The culture industry transformed over the cultural industries into the creative industries, and no longer connotes dismissal of ‘mass culture’, but embraces culture and creativity as driving forces in society.
