Abstract

&NA; During 1991, several publications addressed the current diagnostic uncertainty of uveitic syndromes with nonspecific clinical presentations. Uveal inflammations associated with Lyme disease, tuberculosis, and yersinia infection were investigated by studying both systemic and local humoral immune responses and results of ocular tissue biopsy. These diagnostic techniques, as well as studies of epidemiology, clinical characteristics, and variations in treatment approach, were discussed for the more specific uveitic syndromes associated with toxoplasmosis, onchocerciasis, and Hansen's disease.
