Abstract
In this letter, a silicon integrated optical isolator with cascaded filter that is capable of suppressing backward transmitted signals with the presence of strong forward waves based on the four-wave-mixing effect is proposed, investigated, and experimentally demonstrated. The fundamental dynamic reciprocity limitation is overcome by a novel non-reciprocal wavelength conversion and wavelength filtering methodology, and cascaded wavelength filtering is used to improve the device performance. The proposed device is fabricated. Measurement results demonstrate an isolation ratio of about 25 dB with a pump power of 18.3 dBm. The measured 3-dB operation bandwidth of the proposed integrated isolato..
