Abstract

The Ghosts of Nothing are an artistic collaboration between Sean Lowry and Ilmar Taimre conceived to explore ways in which aesthetic experience can be produced both within and beyond direct sense perception and across multiple medial iterations. In Memory of Johnny B. Goode is a radically “open work” thematically based around an allegorical repurposing of the fictional figure Johnny B. Goode anachronistically re-cast as the historical figure of the alienated artist/clown known as Pierrot. To date, this open work has been remedialized as a rock opera, a script, a radio play, published writings, exhibitions, conference papers, and a “world tour” of mime-based collaborative performances.
