Abstract

Morphology and gas sensitive properties of composite films have been studied. Graphite/silicone rubber composite system exhibits better gas-sensitive response properties than those of carbon-black/silicone rubber system. Analysis of composite morphology indicates poor gas-sensitive response properties of carbon-black/silicone rubber system may be due to the presence of carbon gel, because carbon gel would hamper swelling effect of composite. It shows that gas-sensitive properties of composite film are related to their microstructures. Porous structure in composite film would aid diffusion and therefore decrease the response time.
