This paper explores the nature and degree of risk relating to issues such as inadequate medical screening, lack of situational support and safety, hazardous plant additives or substitutions, inadequate psychosocial support post consumption, effects on pre-existing medical conditions, and concurrent use of illicit or pharmaceutical drugs. A range of options to reduce such risks and support safe practice are discussed.
