Abstract
Many parasitic protozoa, including Plasmodium spp , Toxoplasma gondii and Leishmania spp , proliferate within intracellular niches in their mammalian hosts. Despite many decades of research, we still have an incomplete understanding of the physiological state and metabolism of these intracellular stages and their capacity to adapt to different growth conditions during infection. This information is crucial for understanding the molecular basis of host‐parasite interactions, parasite responses to drugs, and for developing new anti‐parasitic therapies. While genome‐wide recon..
