Abstract
The issues of the patient-centered approach to frequent emergency department (ED) attenders, are discussed. The issue of frequent emergency department attenders is global, and misconception about the inappropriateness of ED attendance are not confined to the US. The existence of psychosocial factors, such as housing status and engagement with community and primary health sources should be improved for vulnerable frequent attenders, using the ED as the initiating site of care. ED utilization may increase as a result of multidisciplinary case management for frequent attenders.
