Abstract
The clinical study of endometrium has been conducted to investigate the aetiology of increased endometrial bleeding in Norplant user with the emphasis on the role of local factors. There was no obvious correlation between endometrial histology and bleeding pattern. It is certainly possible that the bleeding occured due to the steroid-sensitive cells from the regressing endometrium coming through the myometrium to influence its vascular function and integrity. In conclusion, this study provides evidence for increased microvascular density in endometrium from Norplant acceptors compared to normal menstrual cycle endometrium.
