Abstract

We report four cases of symptomatic extension deformity of the interphalangeal joint of the hallux. Patients without pathology in the joint were effectively treated by osteotomy of the proximal phalanx. For older patients, or those with joint pathology, interphalangeal fusion is recommended. The condition has not been previously reported. © 1993 Raven Press, Ltd., New York.
