Pharmacokinetics and plasma levels of antidepressants in the elderly

Abstract

Pharmacokinetics and steady-state plasma levels of tricyclic antidepressants are likely to be altered in the elderly. More systematic studies are required to evaluate this effect in both elderly patients and elderly volunteers. Potentially this is an important area of clinical practice and research since an increasing amount of clinical practice will be devoted to geriatric care in the future.
