Australian Journal of Physiotherapy | Published : 1976

Abstract

Between two and three per cent of Australians suffer from rheumatoid arthritis, and in addition to the pain and disability experienced by the individual patient there is considerable cost to the community in terms of loss of work, cost of prescriptions and doctor's time. By an appreciation of the natural history of the disease and the potential value and disadvantages of the available treatment methods, these costs may be reduced. © 1976, Australian Physiotherapy Association.
