Abstract

Magnesium multiple-vacancy Mg Kα spectra and MgF2 multiple-vacancy F Kα spectra produced by fast ion bombardment of solid targets have been analysed with a 5 curved crystal X-ray spectrometer. Transitions are observed in the region of the 1s2-1s2p helium-like transitions and their satellites. The dependence of the observed spectra on the angle of the target to the beam and the possibility of a precise measurement of wavelengths of highly-ionised recoils is discussed. © 1988.
