Correlated light and scanning electron microscopy of artificial carious lesions.

Abstract

Artificial carious lesions formed in human enamel were studied by light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Scanning electron microscopy of enamel surfaces, prepared by fracturing, revealed features which could be correlated with the zonal pattern observed with light microscopy. A control study of non-carious enamel revealed features previously attributed to caries. © 1982, SAGE Publications. All rights reserved.
