Abstract

1-Methylindole-2(3H)-one-3-spiro-2′,3′,4′-dihydroxy- 5′-imino-2′,5′-dihydrofuran (2) can be prepared in one step by reaction of 1-methylindole-2,3-dione with glyoxal bisulphite and sodium cyanide.
