Energy dependence of the [Formula Presented] total cross section

Abstract
The total cross section of the [Formula Presented] reaction was measured for [Formula Presented] kinetic energies ranging from 70 to 130 MeV using the CHAOS spectrometer at TRIUMF and a liquid [Formula Presented] target. Around [Formula Presented] total cross sections exceed conventional model predictions by a factor of 3, whereas at [Formula Presented] and for [Formula Presented] the data are consistent with these calculations. An attempt is made to understand this behavior by assuming the production of the hypothetical [Formula Presented] dibaryon. © 1998 The American Physical Society.
