Abstract

A simulation model of the development, growth and yield of the wheat crop is described. It comprises three submodels dealing with water, biomass and phenology. The water submodel determines daily transpiration from which growth is calculated as the product of transpiration and transpiration efficiency. Biomass is allocated to above-ground green and dead biomass, roots and grain. The phenology submodel forms the framework for the allocation of biomass and hence the expression of the accumulation of yield.
