Abstract
The present research note provides an overview of the demographic characteristics of direct-service personnel employed in Melbourne community residential units for intellectually disabled individuals. Findings indicate that many of these employees are relatively inexperienced participants in the workforce, and that they are predominantly young, single females. Implications for both the quality of residential care of intellectually disabled persons, and for the performance of direct-service personnel are discussed.
