Synthetic Studies in the 1, 2-dithiole Series. III. Attempts to Convert Dithioles into Pyrrolodithioles

Abstract

Some unsuccessful attempts to convert 4-acylamino-1, 2-dithiole derivatives into pyrrolodithioles are described, and the failure of the critical cyclization step is discussed. The reaction of 4-acetoacetamido-1, 2-dithiol-3-one with sodium ethoxide has given 5-carbethoxy-2, 3-dihydro-4H-1, 4-thiazin-3-one (XI). © 1965 CSIRO. All rights reserved.
