Integrating multimedia in online learning and assessment: A case study

With the evolution of learning management systems, we are now able to integrate and incorporate various forms of multimedia (e.g., video and audio) in online learning. The use of multimedia enhances the learning experience and provides multiples means of engagement for both students and the instructor, specifically when guided by Universal Design for Learning (Meyer, Rose, & Gordon, 2014). Multimedia integration can include providing students with a video to watch for gaining content knowledge. It may mean the instructor provides an audio feedback file along with when returning a student’s assignment assessment rubric.
