Engaging young early school leavers in vocational training

With almost one-third of young people unemployed or underemployed, it is even more important for this cohort to gain skills that improve their employment opportunities. The role that vocational education and training (VET) plays here is critical, particularly so for young early school leavers, who have a greater risk of experiencing disadvantage in multiple areas of their lives — economic, social, health — than those who complete Year 12. But getting young people into VET can be difficult.
