Abstract
Ciao is a catalogue essay for Tom Polo's solo exhibition at Station Gallery which sat parallel to his inclusion in Primavera 26 at the MCA, Sydney. The essay sits as a parrallel text to his work and examines the role of the mask and its relationship to painting and people. Primavera is an annual exhibition presenting the work of important contemporary artists in Australia. The essay was accompanied by a follow up essay for his Station Gallery exhibition and resulted in a text work being commissioned by Reading Room in 2020.
