Abstract
Part 1 of this perspective piece outlined a personal journey from naturopath to researcher to provide insight and tips for natural therapists who might be interested in pursuing postgraduate study or research work. Part 2 draws on the author's experience working for the World Health Organization (WHO) to explain the WHO's position for their support of traditional-medicine - based around their goal of universal health coverage. Also discussed are the local and global perspectives inherent in research and the need for more health services research to increase understanding of how traditional and complementary medicine practices are delivered.
