Love in Solitude

Abstract
Love in Solitude is a meditation on the eloquent thoughts presented in Letters to A Young Poet by Rainer Maria Rilke. Composed/orchestrated for Piano, Flute, Bass Clarinet, and Vibraphone/Percussion, the work also features a pre-recorded soundscape that includes spoken excerpts from Rilke’s text. Love in Solitude was composed for the Merlyn Myer Composing Women’s Commission, and premiered at the Melbourne Recital Centre Salon on Tuesday November 28, 2017, in a performance by Ensemble Offspring.
