Abstract
Experts shared their views on Norbert Wiener's cybernetics legacy and his strong support for interdisciplinary research. He made significant contributions in harmonic analysis and Fourier transforms but is best known for his contributions to the development of cybernetics. Wiener developed a strong interest in the study of feedback mechanisms in both science and engineering. This work included research he did with engineer Julian Bigelow1 during World War II on an antiaircraft fire-control system.
