Percy Grainger: Freedom As_
A Lyons, P Fletcher
Published : 2017
Abstract
This installation contributed new responses to Grainger’s original ideas of “free music” and sonically focussed on the spaces between traditional western “diatonic scale” recognised notes. The installation also explored the spaces and illusory connections between phasing loops of animation and sound across the several sound and animation sources. The installation also contributed novel designs for audio sculptures (Bluetooth speaker harp and tree harp) and audio-visual museum installations generally. The animation projection fortuitously discovered a novel way to integrate a static portrait image hanging in the gallery to interact in a meaningful way with projected animation.
