Abstract

Although team trust is recognized as central to effective team functioning, little is known about what influences the emergence of shared trust in teams. Instead, research has focused on the consequences of team trust rather than the antecedents, and has viewed team trust as a consensus-based construct, ignoring meaningful differences in members’ trust perceptions. We address this issue by testing a conceptual model of the antecedents and consequences of team trust congruence: a dispersion-based construct that captures the extent to which members’ perceptions of trust in their team are shared.
