Intra-hepatic gas following embolization

Abstract

We read with interest your recent case report by Siim and Fleckenstein (1982) describing intrahepatic gas formation following therapeutic hepatic arterial embolisation, and were surprised to see that the authors consider this to be a rare occurrence. Our impression is that gas is frequently observed in the liver under these circumstances, and we have recently reviewed 50 cases of hepatic arterial embolisation performed in our unit to determine the incidence of the phenomenon.
