This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows: To assess the effectiveness of pharmacological interventions for assisting with the management of challenging behaviours (i.e. irritability, aggression, and self-injury) in autism spectrum disorder (ASD). To generate a clinically useful ranking of available pharmacological interventions for challenging behaviours in ASD according to their safety, efficacy, and tolerability.
