Abstract
In the development of model predictive controllers (MPC) for a diesel engine air path, tuning the parameters of the controllers to achieve satisfactory performance is challenging, especially whilst adhering to input and safety constraints in the presence of unknown disturbances. The novel MPC structure introduced in a companion paper reduces the number of effective tuning parameters to lower the calibration effort, but does not directly consider the robustness of the controller in handling modelling uncertainties. This paper addresses this challenge by detailing how a constraint tightening-like approach can be augmented to the control architecture through an additional calibration parameter,..
