Abstract

In this chapter, Neryl Jeanneret builds on a number of key ideas about learning, including the awareness, frequently articulated by teachers, that young children often understand more than they are able to verbalise. Neryl goes on to identify some key principles of cognitive, social and skill development scaffolded by learning in different artforms, while drawing attention to some of the leading figures in this field.
