This chapter lays the trail from principle to practice. First, several of the key principles which underlie effective integration of the arts are discussed. Then, Dave Kelman provides a bridge between principle and practice in the form of Joe Winston’s ‘learning through beauty’. This is a specific conceptual framework which allows the educators to accommodate the challenges of bringing multiple artforms and practitioners together to achieve a coherent and intellectually stimulating integrated arts program. Winston’s ‘learning through beauty’ framework provides a conceptual foundation for the practice discussed in the case study that sits at the heart of this chapter.
