Abstract

The recent rise of life logging technologies and wearable computing gadgets enables us to create comprehensive records of our daily lives. Data collected by wearable sensors is often cumbersome to access and not extensively prepared. To make such digital personal data accessible, we propose a system of memory displays with the specific goal of supporting human memory. This article reports on a series of explorative studies to understand the requirements for peripheral memory displays deployed in people's homes and their utility as memory aids.Thereby we explore different display locations, content types, presentation modalities and two memory support approaches: namely priming and retrospect..
