Ecotourism Governance and Stakeholder Management: Prospects and Challenges (The Case of Panglao, Bohol Philippines)

In Southeast Asian countries, ecotourism plays an increasingly critical role in enhancing local economic activities and generating employment and livelihood opportunities. However, there have been concerns over how governments fail to sustainably manage tourism activities and address the negative effects on the natural environment. Local communities express how the influx of tourists is changing the patterns in local values system and gradually eroding their customs and traditions.
