Based on interviews with refugees moving through Rome in 2017, this poetic double narrative explores devices of polyphony, intertextuality and direct second-person address to narrate a tale of 19th century displacement (the journey of the dying poet John Keats to Rome) read ironically against an urgent symbolic account of contemporary post-war displacement. The respective subjects of each narrative are John Keats' love, Fanny Brawne and Ayesha, a female Hazzara refugee. Their stories of loss and endurance form a strict counterpoint, linking them across time and space as significant female subjects.
