'The Art: Ultramarine'
Australian Catholic University | Published : 2018
This post-quest poem engages with themes of global displacement, examining refugee experience and post trauma. The free-verse poem is based on interviews conducted in Rome with Helen Creswell, Art Therapist at the Refugee Centre at St Pauls Within the Walls during a 2017 Australia Council fellowship. In this poem, I explore an imagistic uncanny around landscape and memory, so that colour is not merely an embodiment of a formal value, but something that signifies memory and trauma as well as reconciliation with traumatic experience.
