Abstract

A core function of each Transmission System Operator is the procurement of Ancillary Services (AS) necessary for a stable and reliable operation of the system. This paper presents the basis of a new market design in self-scheduling market structures, that is to be implemented in the future. The new design aims at an optimal deployment of manually activated AS products for a secure and balanced operation of the transmission network. Such products are currently being activated for different operational goals, although they have common technical characteristics.
