A gestalt for the reengineering of school education for the knowledge society

Abstract

This paper provides an analysis of the reform of school education by providing a critique of the development of self-managing schools. Three 'tracks' of reform are identified to help make sense of change in different countries. Most significantly, it reports on research that links self-managing schools with improved learning outcomes for students.
