Abstract
Discusses globalisation and art; postmodern cultural forms and critical regionalism; postcolonial developments in Western cultural institutions; Western Desert painters and urban Aboriginal artists; relationship between the work of South African artist William Kentridge, whose work was included in an exhibition titled the Divine Comedy at the Art Gallery of Western Australia at the same time that an exhibition of western desert painting was also hung at that institution.
