Abstract

This article explores the way mirrors function in the Baroque culture of Rome in the period c. 1660–1750 in terms of the categories of ‘reason’, ‘illusion’, and ‘infinity’. It explores new documentation for instances of these categories in executed and unexecuted projects for the Villa Patrizi in Rome around 1720.
