Abstract

Reviews the exhibition, 'Clement Meadmore: The art of mid-century design' (Ian Potter Museum of Art, University of Melbourne, 20 November 2018 – 3 March 2019) and argues that the exhibition design reinforces both the enduring contemporaneity of Meadiore's designs and the definitiveness of the curators' authentication of each piece (Meadmore designs being notoriously the target of multiple unauthorised copyists). The review also commends the curators for highlighting the formerly neglected contribution of Enid Meadmore in the context of women having long been relegated to the footnotes of Australian design history.
