There is a need to maintain the balance between the water required for cities, towns and industry and to preserve aquatic ecosystems and essential ecological processes. Waterway health may be threatened when alterations occur in the flow regime caused by anthropogenic processes or changes in climate. Sustainable Water Strategies (SWS) undertaken between 2006 and 2011 reviewed water sharing arrangements in Victoria and decided where to prioritise more water for the environment. This paper assesses changes in the flow regime since the SWS were undertaken and identifies where there may have been an increased threat to waterway health. In this study the flow regime was characterised using the fl..
