In many cases, the impact of dams on stream flows is critical because it directly affects the condition and availability of water resources for downstream uses. In other cases, the number and storage capacity of farm dams is needed to characterise current levels of unregulated entitlements. There has previously been no reliable estimates of how farm dam storage capacities have changed over time, except for a small handful of specific locations. Previous work has tended to focus on establishing the current number and location of dams. Thirty sampling areas, each forming a rectangle 5 km x 10 km, were selected to analyse changes in farm dam development. The key result of this study was that fo..
