Architectural research about country homes is often focused on the genealogy of their occupants and/or their place in the history of architecture. Much of the latter is based on fabric, as well as on the discussion of the attributes of artifacts identified with the home. In the rural Australian context, while this adoption of a "style" might have some resonance with geography and climate, it was also informed by imported architectural ideas that took hold during the period of occupation of rural landscapes in the mid-late ninetennth century.
