Panel Session - Scaling Up Learning Analytics Research Innovations: Challenges and Approaches

Abstract

Exploratory research in learning analytics and other algorithmic approaches to improving learning can lead to powerful findings that have the potential to improve STEM learning and teaching for a broad audience of students, faculty, and institutions. However, this promise of large-scale impact is rarely achieved in practice. This panel will discuss considerations for researchers to effectively scale up exploratory research findings into operational settings, including design considerations, data sampling, algorithm optimisation, and policy/commercialisation issues.
