Abstract

Slow Awakening is a theatre project spanning the lives of an Aboriginal family from Point McLeay SA and Dimboola VIC. It’s story traverses several generations of change, from the 1960’s to present day, and is written by film maker and playwright Tracey Rigney, who is a Wotjobaluk and Ngarrindjeri woman. The project includes two Aboriginal language groups- Wergaia and Ngarrindjeri. Both languages are entwined with English throughout the show within the narrative and within song. The project is an Incubator residency of Vitalstatistix Theatre Company Port Adelaide SA and is an ongoing project. https://vitalstatistix.com.au/residencies/slow-awakening/
