Abstract

In this paper, a class of single-sided multiprocessor multistage interconnection networks (MINs), which we call ‘reflective’ networks, is proposed. A common characteristic of reflective networks is that as requests pass through the network, at some point they are reflected back to the same side rather than passed to the opposite side as in double-sided multistage interconnection networks. This leads to a logarithmic delay between processors and memory which is often much less than in double-sided MINs, many routes through the networks which provides for increased performance and significant fault tolerance, and good physical properties for scalability. Here, reflective networks are analyzed ..
